Learning Stages

Engaging your toddler in story retelling through dramatic play is a fun way to strengthen her oral language and literacy skills.

Using puppets, dress-up clothes, stuffed animals and other toys, re-create the characters and setting of your child's favorite book. Then help her reenact a favorite scene. Spark her imagination by introducing new characters or presenting a new problem for her to overcome.

In addition to reading to your toddler, pretend play and story retelling are excellent language activities for toddlers that will strengthen vocabulary while developing expressive and creative skills.
