These cute flip flops are a VERY easy 4th of July activity for kids. It only took my daughter about 20 minutes and she wound up with a really cute pair of shoes for 4th of July!

  1. Cut the bandanas into ¾ inch strips. We didn’t use the entire bandana, just a few strips. My bandanas were 21” long, so the finished strips were ¾” x 21”.
  2. Cut the 21” strips into thirds. This was great math practice for my 3rd grade helpers. In 3rd grade, the kids are working on division and fractions. Cutting the strips was a perfect example of how we use math in the real world. In the end, we had a whole pile of red, white, and blue bandana strips that measured ¾” x 7”.
  3. Simply tie the bandana strips onto the flip flops. They will look a little long when they are all tied on, but we trimmed them a bit shorter when we were finished. If we would have cut the strips any shorter, they would have been hard to tie.
