Project Habitat

Explore the world with one paintbrush and a one big imagination.

You'll Need

  • Large piece of paper
  • Markers
  • Pencils
  • Crayons
  • Paint
  • Other mixed media such as cotton balls, yarn, leaves, etc.

Time

30 minutes

Research different ecosystems and help your child decide on a habitat to create with art materials.

Make a mural of a habitat such as the ocean, the rainforest, or the North or South Pole.

Explore the real-life plants and animals that live there, as well as the climate in that place. Then let your child be creative—use crayons and markers or paint your habitat. You can even add mixed media to the mural, such as cotton balls to depict snow, for example.

Ask your child to describe their habitat mural.
