Number songs and nursery rhymes are entertaining number activities for children who are learning to count. When singing with your toddler, opt for songs with finger play, such as “Five Little Monkeys” or “One, Two Buckle My Shoe,” or sing along with number songs on toddler learning toys and CDs. Make up a bedtime “blast off song” by counting backward from 10, or sing a high-energy ditty with claps and stomps at playtime. Toddlers learn through repetition, rhyming and play, so it’s a great idea to sing counting songs with your child every day.
