Money exchange
Have your child take some coins from his piggybank. Then get out some change of your own. Make trades for equivalent values. For example, ask him if you can trade your 10 pennies for his dime. Or maybe he’ll want to trade in two 2 dimes and 5 pennies for a quarter. Does he understand that you will both end up with the same amount you started with? It is important to give your child frequent opportunities to hold, count and use money in order for him to gain full understanding of money and to develop his number sense.
