Setting the table
This activity embodies one of the principal ideas underlying the notion of the one-to-one correspondence of objects and numbers. Ask your child to set the dinner table (or a make-believe table) for a given number of guests with napkins, plates and so forth. Each place setting should receive only one of each item.
