From scribbling to writing

By the time he's about 18 months, your toddler may show an interest in scribbling on a page. Encourage "writing" by providing plenty of paper and chunky crayons. Ask questions about what he has written or drawn, even if you only see scratch marks. Do lots of writing yourself so your child has something to imitate.
