Giggles and ghosts

First graders seem to love jokes, perhaps because they are finally able to grasp the way most jokes revolve around a play on words. Halloween jokes have the added benefit of making seasonal monsters seem more silly than scary. Encourage your child to memorize some Halloween jokes or make up her own. Have your child collect favorites in a homemade, illustrated joke book.
