Summer Activities, Printables and Articles
I can hear it already. “Mom, I’m borrrred!” No matter how hard I try to keep my house stocked with fun games and activities, my kids don’t seem interested. One way I’ve learned to help them engaged is to engage in activities myself.
Last summer I purchased a few drawing books that I thought would be fun for my kids. I kept setting them out, but no one seemed interested. One day I decided to sit down and draw by myself. Within minutes I had two little friends who wanted to join me. They were engaged and excited and we had fun together as a family.
Cook with your kids! Visit a local farmer’s market and let your child pick out some fruits or vegetables. Look up a new recipe using the items you purchased and cook together. One of my kids’ favorite summertime dessert came out of this engaging idea.
Garden together as often as you can. I can’t always convince my kids to help me pull weeds, but I can usually find someone to help me water plants, plant seeds, or pick a new flower bouquet. My daughter loves to collect flowers and press the flower petals too. Dried flower petals make great pieces for collage art too.
