Creative noisemakers
Skills
Bring the noise and strengthen your baby’s listening skills.
Gather a few things that make noise. You might choose a rattle, a set of keys, an unopened box of rice, a large whistle and an alarm clock. As you sit with your baby, shake the rattle. Talk about the sound. Compare it to the sounds the box of rice makes or the jingling of the keys. Gently blow the whistle. Turn the alarm clock on and off. Talk about the different sounds. This activity hones your baby’s listening skills and will help her distinguish the difference between musical instruments later.
