Over and under

With a block and a small container your baby can learn position words.

The first words your baby speaks will likely be nouns. But babies understand many more words than they can speak, even from a very early age. When your baby begins to approach one year, you’ll notice that she can understand prepositions like “over,” “under,” “behind” and “next to.” Show your baby how you put a block on top of a cup and under a cup. Then give her a chance to play. As she plays, say what she is doing: “You’re putting the block under the cup. Where did it go? There it is! Now you are putting the block in the cup.”
