Learning Tip: Counting time

Help your child learn to count to ten. Any time your child is playing with several things, such as crayons, blocks or small toys, count the objects together.

A good example is to approach your child when she is coloring and say, "Let’s count the crayons you have out. One, two, …" Point to each object as you count it. After some practice, ask your child to try counting on her own.
