Following directions is a very important skill for preschoolers. Simon Says and If You’re Happy and You Know It (Clap your Hands) are great activities to help children develop physical skills and follow directions.
Sing If You’re Happy and You Know It with your child, improvising physical movements such as jumping up high, running in place, hopping, tapping, nodding, waving and wiggling. Have your child suggest his/her own actions!
If you’re happy and you know it, jump up high,
If you’re happy and you know it, jump up high,
If you’re happy and you know it then your face will surely show it,
If you’re happy and you know it, jump up high.
