Learning Tip: Shopping for letters

Each time you take your child to the supermarket, choose a letter. Ask your child to find things that start with that letter sound. If the letter is C, some items you may find are carrots, crisps and ketchup—these all start with the sound /k/.

This builds the sound memory needed prior to learning to read.
