Learning Tip: "Read" the pictures

When you read aloud to your child, ask him to name and describe objects and characters that appear in the illustrations. Examples: What is the mouse wearing? What colour is the mouse’s hat? How do you think the mouse is feeling in this picture? This practice builds just one of the many clues your child will use when he begins to read.
