Make picture puzzles using compound words. Help your child illustrate each word part of a compound word on the left and right sides of an index card. Then, cut the card down the middle in a zigzag pattern. Ask your child to put the pieces together to make a picture puzzle. Use words that are easy to illustrate, such as: beanbag, butterfly, cupcake, kennel, football, pancake, raincoat, snowman or starfish. Try out your picture puzzles on family and friends.
