An acrostic poem uses the letters of a word to begin each line. Ask your child to write his name top-to-bottom on a piece of paper (instead of left-to-right). Then help him write a poem, using each letter of his name to begin each line of the poem. You can also write acrostic poems using the names of places instead of people. Help your child make an acrostic poem for the city or town where you live, for your county or even your country.
