Activity: What Am I?

Use this activity to encourage your child to use senses other than sight to identify familiar objects. Gather a variety of toys, household items and foods, making sure to include some objects that have particular shapes, textures, sounds, smells and so on.

Have your child close his eyes and guess what each object is. If keeping eyes closed is a challenge, cut two fist-sized holes near the bottom of a large paper grocery bag. Place an object into the bag  and have your child put his hands through the holes to make his guess.
