Activity: Freeze Dance!

Materials:
A music player and some fun dance tunes
Time:
20 minutes
Skills:
Gross motor skills

Dancing stretches a toddler's body and mind, builds muscles and improves coordination. Playing singing and dancing games with your toddler can also help develop math skills (counting beats), language skills (singing along), and listening skills (Hokey Pokey, anyone?).

Ready to jiggle? Don some fancy pants for a Freeze Dance! Gather as many wiggling bodies as you can; you'll play DJ. When the music plays, everyone lets loose. When the music stops, everyone freezes. Keep about a minute of music between stops, so little dancers can really get into the groove.
