Learning Tip: One, two, buckle my shoe

Mother Goose and other collections of nursery rhymes are rich resources for math literacy. They offer many rhymes having to do with counting. Remember One, two, buckle my shoe or Ten little soldiers standing in a line

Find nursery rhymes or other number poems and as you read them aloud to your child, act them out with your fingers as you go along. Then make up number poems of your own:

One, two, three, four
[Your child’s name] is at the door
Five, six
She plays tricks
Seven, eight
Numbers are great!
