Activity: Snack math

Materials:
Snack items (nuts, fish crackers, raisins, jellybeans), paper, pen or pencil
Time:
15 minutes

Give your child up to 10 raisins, nuts or jellybeans. Ask her to count the items and write the number that stands for the set. Then have your child write as many different combinations of snacks as possible to make that number. For example, if the number was 10, your child might come up with any or all of these combination sets: 1 and 9, 2 and 8, 3 and 7, 4 and 6, and/or 5 and 5.
