Activity: LeapFrog!
- Materials:
- Chalk
- Time:
- 30 minutes
- Skills:
- Number recognition, sequencing
Go outside and draw 10 lily pads on the pavement with chalk. Separate the pads so that your child can leap from pad to pad. Write the numbers 1 through 10 in order on the pads. Have your child trace over the numbers, then invite him to leap like a frog from pad to pad as you call out the numbers 1 to 10. To mix it up, change the numbers to 11 through 20, and then to 21 through 30. Other variations include asking your child to jump on the pads while counting backwards from 10 to 1, skip count by twos (2, 4, 6, 8 …) or skip count by fives (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 …).
