Cut several straws into three lengths: small, medium and large. Draw three lines on a piece of paper to match the lengths. Pile up the straws and ask your child to identify each one as small, medium and large as she picks them up. She can check her answer against the lengths drawn on the piece of paper. If she is right, she keeps the straw. How long before she collects them all?
