Materials:
Cube-shaped box, paper and black marker
Time:
15 minutes
Skills:
Alphabet

Make a letter cube by pasting blank paper on each side of an old tissue box. Print a large black capital letter on each side and roll the cube. Ask your child to name the letter that is face up when the cube lands, and then write the lowercase form of that letter on a piece of paper. Make many letter cubes, each with different letters.

Children typically learn uppercase letters first. In order to begin reading and writing, children must also know lowercase letters. While your child is recognizing and naming capital letters, this activity also helps him see that each capital letter has a matching lowercase form.
