Learning Tip: Keep books in the home

Displaying books in your home sends your child the message that books are important, valuable and necessary. Equally important is to see them being used! Be a model reader, showing how a book should be handled carefully to remain complete, clean and undamaged.  Ask your child, "What if this book didn't have a last page? We would never know how the story ends!" Remind your child that library books deserve extra respect because after he is finished with his books, they will used by others.  Ask how he would feel if a book he really wanted to read was ripped, drawn on or covered with ketchup stains.
