Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday and this year it truly takes on a new meaning for me. I am excited to announce that my husband and I are
expecting a baby girl in mid September! So let's celebrate all types of mothers this year: expecting moms, birth moms, new moms, adoptive moms, grand-moms, step-moms, moms of any and every kind!
My class got together earlier this week and gathered on the carpet to brainstorm some ideas on things we can do to celebrate with mom. I was quite surprised with some of the ideas my kindergarten students came up with with just a little help from me.
First I prompted my students to think about what their moms do around the house and how they could help their mom complete some of those tasks to make her Mother's day that much more special.
Here is what my students came up with--straight from the mouths of babes!
- " I can help clean the house."
- " I can help my mom make the dinner."
- " We take my mom to go out to dinner."
- " I will help my mom do the dishes."
- " I will tell my dad to do the laundry so mommy won't have to."
- " I like to help fold the laundry and put it away. It smells so good!"
- " Use your kind words all day."
- " Use your manners too!"
- " I think you should buy her something pretty."
- " Make her something that will make her smile and then she will put it up on the refrigerator!"
What do you think about these ideas moms?
Would they make your Mother's Day enjoyable if your kids did some of these things for you?
What does your ideal Mother's Day look like?
As an expecting mother there are so many things to be excited, yet anxious about at the same time. After six years of teaching Kindergarten, I have it down to a science, so I am feeling a little aprehensive about be a first time mommy because I just don't know exactly what to expect. Sure I've babysat and was a live-in nanny for a year, but I'm sure those things don't compare to having a child of your very own.
As your kinder blogger I have been your expert in all things Kindergarten, but now as a soon to be new mom, I am asking for your advice fellow blog followers and moms extrodinaire!
What are some words of advice you can give me on pregnancy, delivery, and/or raising a newborn?
Can't wait to hear from you!Have a Happy and Joyful Mother's Day!
