Activity: Flashlight Fun

Materials:
Flashlight
Time:
15 minutes
Skills:
Sensory exploration, gross motor skills

Long before you became a parent, you probably discovered that a flashlight kept your cat entertained for hours. This common household tool is also fascinating to kids of all ages!

With the room lights low, shine the flashlight beam near your baby so she sees it. Move it around the floor, walls and ceiling so she's tracking it around the room with her eyes. Then move it to the floor near your baby and wiggle it around. Encourage your baby to catch the light. This will get her up and moving, stretching and strengthening her muscles. When she's old enough, she can hold the flashlight and you can chase the light!
