Learning Tip: Communicate Through Words, Sounds, Songs and Gestures

Attempt to communicate with your baby in a variety of ways, such as using different words, sounds, songs and gestures. This helps your baby understand the many uses of language and speech. Poems and rhyming songs will help your baby discover similarities and differences in sounds, an essential prereading skill.
