Activity: Suffix charades

Index cards, pen or pencil, hat

Write the following base words on individual index cards and place them in a hat: care, help, fear, thought. Pick a word from the hat. Show your child the word and explain that you are going to act the word out after adding either the suffix –ful or –less. He or she has to guess from your pantomime which suffix you’ve added. Take turns picking words from the hat and miming them.
