Letter writing is a good tool for combining needed writing practice with history or current events. Ask your child to write a letter to the president (or a past president, if your child has studied the presidents in school). Make sure your child includes a specific question for the president—something your child wants the president to “fix” or explain. For variation, suggest your child write to write to the president’s wife, child or other family member.
