Now is the time to begin instilling values and teaching appropriate behavior. Teach your toddler the concepts of sharing, taking turns and saying "please" and "thank you." Consistently model appropriate behavior, and provide opportunities for your child to practice these skills by playing educational toys and games. When playing games with your toddler, be a stickler for rules and be sure to model gracious winning and losing behavior. Recognize and praise positive behavior, and properly address negative conduct. Reinforce what you’re teaching by reading books about manners and feelings with your toddler, or by role-playing appropriate behavior using puppets.
