Make scissors kid's play
Cutting paper, lacing beads, finger painting, and manipulating play dough are all great for building coordination and fine motor skills. Learning to use scissors is an important fine motor skill on its own. It increases muscle strength in the hand, which will help with pencil control. Model how to place your fingers in the scissors with your own pair. Cutting paper can be difficult for children who are new to cutting. Let your child cut play dough in order to practice opening and closing the scissors.
