Ask your child for "help" sorting objects into baskets or bins. You can suggest sorting them by type of object, color or size, or let your child come up with his or her own classification. As your toddler gains classification and fine motor skills, you can use a muffin tin and smaller toys or objects (for toddlers who no longer "mouth" objects) or pieces of different types of cereal.
